5-7-10 The magic ride

One day, Dan, Ethan and I went on the magic ride.

We jumped on and just as we got on our seats, the ride started to spin. 

“Something doesn't feel right,'' thought Dan and Ethan.  

As the ride started to go a little bit faster,

Ethan and I started to feel a little bit dizzy, but for some reason, Mark has never got dizzy in his life!  

“Where am I?” said Ethan as we got off the ride. 

When we walked outside, I realized that we were now on Mars! 

I wondered how we got here and how we would get back to the Earth.

We went to bed in the room where the magic ride was and fell asleep.

The next morning, Ethan had an idea of how to get back to Earth.

He told us that all we had to do was get back on the ride, ride it backwards,

and it will teleport us back to the Earth. So we all agreed to his idea,

hoping that it will work and will take us back to Earth.  So we tried it… and it worked! 

“YAY!” We all shouted happily.

Battle of the Storm Troopers.

Oh no!  It was a battle against 100 of the Storm Troopers. The storm troopers appeared out of nowhere and started to destroy the city. The Republic tried to protect the city, but they only had lightsabers. 50 Storm Troopers exploded because there was an explosion from behind them. The 50 StormTroppers left charged towards the Republic soldiers and started to attack with their lightsabers. When they finished attacking the battle was even. After it was the Republic’s turn to attack, only 10 Storm Troopers managed to survive. While they were attacking, Darth Vader appeared and defeat 25 of the other Republic, while the other 10 Storm Troopers defeat 15. Now the battle was 10 vs 10. 

It was the StormTroopers turn to attack, but while Republic wasn’t looking, the final 10 storm troopers escaped, including Darth Vader. The StormTroopers left some space ships to finish the fight, but like the StormTroopers, before the space ships even had a chance to attack, the Republic escaped, and the battle of the Storm Troopers was over.

Tapa Patterns.

Today we made a Tapa cloth. First we had to make our patterns. Then we had to go over it with vivid. Then we had to color in half of each with vivid. Then we had to dye it. Lastly, we had to scrunch it.

Readtheory- August

At the beginning of the year I was on grade one. Now I am on grade 5. My highest grade was 6 because I have been reading the text and finding the answers.

Fraction Splat

Today we played fraction splat. I got better. This was my score.

Word Cline- Fast

Today we did a Word Cline. We had to choose a word and put them from fast to faster to fastest.

Measuring Metric Length

Today we played a game called metric length. I came 2nd in the class. My high score was  34680.

Target Numbers

Today in maths we had to get as close as possible to our target with a four digit number using the numbers 0-9 and using the same number in each 4 digit number only once.  We had to make the largest odd number, largest even number, largest multiple of 3, largest multiple of 5 and the closest number to 5000.

I or Me?

Today in writing we had to see if it was I or me that fit in the sentence.

S.T.E.A.M- mind map

We did a bus stop activity and we had to figure out some words that go with these titles. Then we created a mind map about S.T.E.A.M on our lucid chart.

Visual Language- Tiger

Today was our first day of visual language. We learnt some new words like modality and vector. Vector is when a picture goes from one side of the page to the other, and modality is when something is real or fake.

Space Art

I drew a picture of a moon and then we drew some craters on them.  Then we coloured them in with the sketching pencils and then shaded them with our fingers. When our moon was done we coloured in the coffee filters with dye, and we used hot colors and cold colors. Then we used different thing like cups to make circles. When all of that was done we got a black cardboard and then splashed some white paint on it to make some stars. Lastly we glued the moon and the planets to the black cardboard.

Space Learning Center - Food Activity

Today I wrote 2 paragraphs of what astronauts eat in space and I even included my favourite food.

Zoo Recount

One cold, cloudy day room 5 went to the Zoo. I was excited to go to the zoo. We
went to the zoo because the Warehouse sponsored us to go and Ritchies buses
gave us the ride for free.

When we got to the zoo, we went to go and see the red pandas. We can
only see two red pandas but they were in the trees. We moved onto the Australian area.
When
we got to the Australian area we were
on our way to the Tasmanian devil. We couldn't see the Tasmanian devil because
it was sleeping. Then we went to go and see the wallabies and emus. Some of us
thought that the wallabies were kangaroos. Then we moved on to the South
America area. We went to the tarantulas but we couldn’t see any. After we visited
a few other animals be moved on
to the Kiwis.
It was dark because Kiwis only come at night so they wanted to trick them
to come out. We all wanted to touch the
Eels, but we weren't
allowed to. 

Then we met Hohepa. He came with us to the Baboons. We got to see the
baboons’ red bottoms. Then Hohepa took us to the cheetahs. There were
2 cheetahs. We did not get to see the second one but the first one was by the tree sleeping. Then we moved onto the elephants. Their names

were Burma and Anjalee. Anjalee and Burma kept on throwing bark on their backs as sunscreen.  Then we moved on to the Africa area. We went through a lane that led us to the Africa area and while we were going through that lane lots of people fussed about the smell. Hohepa turned around and told all of us that the smell was the
ginkgo tree.

After the Africa area we went to go and see the lions. When we saw the lions one of the
was sitting at the top of a hill eating a piece of meat. Then we moved on to the rhino. After the rhinos we
saw the zebras and giraffes and ostriches. The zebras and giraffes were eating hay and the ostriches
were trying to hide
behind
the
gate.
Then we moved onto the meerkats. That was my favourite animal because we got to go through some tunnels to get a closer look at the meerkats. 

We went to the zoo because we were sponsored to go. I liked going to the zoo even if it was cold, gloomy, and cloudy, because it was my first time going. I was happy that we went to the zoo. 

Read Theory June.

At the beginning of the year I was on grade 1. Last month I was on grade 5. My highest score is grade 6. I need to look carefully back at the text to fund my answers so I can move up.

Celebrating Matariki

On Friday all the classes went to the hall.  We all had 2 sausages for each person. We saw the junior kapa haka, senior kapa haka, and pacifica. We all watched a video and whaea ode was there too and she also helped to make the sausage sizzle. In the end we all got to hear a few songs from the ukulele group.

Trial and Error

Today in maths we did what's my number? We had to find the number by seeing if you got the same number by adding 8 to the number and still get the same answer when you tripled it. We tried 9, but we were 10 off. Then we tried 7, but we were 6 off the we tried 5, but we were 2 off. Then most of us thought that it was 4, and we were right.
